Avery's End of the Year Program

This year, Avery attended the First United Methodist Church preschool. She has loved it! I am amazed at what she has learned, and how much she has grown verbally and socially the past 9 months. She LOVED going to school! There were several times she cried because she didn't want to go home! This morning Shaun and I attended her end of the year program. Each class sang two songs. Avery has been walking around the house the past couple of months singing the "J-E-S-U-S!" song--it was her favorite, and I'm glad I got to see her sing it with all of her little friends.
We will all miss Avery's wonderful teachers, Ms. Kalena and Ms. Ginny. But, they've offered to babysit some this summer, so I may take them up on that offer ;)
ready to go!

The girl in the middle was in the 4 and 5 year old class, and would play with Avery and "mother" her at drop-off time in the morning. =)

Ms. Kalena and Ms. Ginny Once she spotted us in the audience, she couldn't take her eyes off us!

Spring Break

We had a great spring break! Shaun took off for the week, which was really nice. I took Avery to Mt. Vernon for the first weekend, while he got started on painting our kitchen (pics to come soon). Avery, mom and I visited with Aaron and Erin in Texarkana. We had a blast taking Avery to Chuck E Cheese! When we got back to Nac we finished up painting, went to the park, Chuck E Cheese (again!), Discovery Center, played outside, went shopping, ate dip cones at DQ, slept in past 8, made play-dough sculptures, and had picnics. It was a great week, and I'm already counting down until summer!

I've been trying to cut these out, but some days after teaching 22 4 year olds, I need an ice cold one! Just one sip....

Updates!

I love you!

ready to bake! she did a great job putting the cupcake liners in
Making snowblobs

I just wanted to share some pictures for the last few weeks. These are from my phone, my camera pictures are, well, still on my camera ;). We've enjoyed snow TWICE in the past three weeks! Avery loved it. She has also adjusted well to her new bed. No rail, and she hasn't fallen out once! I've started clipping coupons, but I haven't figured out all the secrets yet. Last week the lady at Kroger paid 24$ for her groceries...before coupons, her bill was 94$!! I've been looking at different coupon sites too, but it's a little overwhelming. Oh well, I saved 25$ off my last grocery bill...every little bit counts! I'm counting the days until spring break. No big plans, but I'm looking forward to a haircut, painting the kitchen, and getting some things checked off my to do list. I also want to take Avery back to the children's museum in Tyler one day. Well, enjoy the pictures....more to come soon!

Quick Re-cap

I was hoping to be better at this in 2010, but I haven't done so well so far! Here are some things that have been going on with our family the past couple of months....

  • We had a wonderful Christmas with all our families. Avery was ready for "ho ho ho" to come, and he was very good to her. Her favorite gift? A pink and purple shopping cart with a seat for her baby. She pushes that thing all over the house pretending to shop. Shaun and I decided to save money we would have spent on gifts and use it throughout the year...changes we want to make on the house, and contributing to a trip I'll be taking later this year.

  • 2 days before Christmas, Lufkin (where I teach) was hit with a bad tornado. Its path went right through our school and the surrounding neighborhood. We were just weeks away from finishing up new construction on our building. Luckily, we weren't in school when it happened, and no other people in town were badly injured. It caused extensive damage, and in one day, we packed up 13 classrooms and moved to another campus where we will be for the rest of the year. 280 three and four year olds on a campus with 3rd-5th graders!! Things will really be interesting during TAKS time, because we don't do quiet...I think I see lots of field trips in our future!

  • Shaun has started his second semester working towards his masters in counseling. He has 3 night classes a week on top of a full time job, and being a great dad... I'm really proud of him.

  • This weekend we are getting Avery's big girl bed. I'm so excited to rearrange her room and add some new decor. Avery's former sitter and our good friend Brook is making something fabulous for A's room. I can't wait to see it! You should check out her store on Etsy...SunnyandBrookdesigns or her blog.

  • Each year mom, Aunt Kim and my cousin Dala have a girls shopping weekend in Dallas and Canton. Well, this year we are going to try and do it BIG...New York City!! I went in high school and LOVED it. I've wanted to go back ever since. We're working on finalizing plans, and until then I will be searching couches, dryers, collecting cans, having a garage sale to save every penny I can, HAHAHA!

  • Avery is growing like a weed! It's so fun to have conversations with her. She loves playing with her baby dolls now (not so much before), reading stories with us and her dolls, and going to school. She had her first time out yesterday....she wasn't alone though. Her accomplice was Taylor, the daughter of Kelsi, one of my oldest BFF's. Her teacher says they are so funny to watch together...whispering and giggling during naptime, sharing lunches and giving big hugs when one of them gets to school. Sounds familiar!

  • Avery is terrified of the potty. She is wearing a size 6 diaper, and they don't make size 7's. That's all I"m gonna say about that.

Random Monday

Here are some pictures from the past month...in no order. I haven't been able to keep up with blogging much lately, but I wanted to share some pictures!
